Hay guys,
I’m new to this and got here after I watched a video from mydealz.
Thought it would be easy.
Read and followed the “How to Noob cc3235” but got stuck at multiple steps.
First I got CH341A-Programmer and a SOP8-clamp.
And I use Windows 11…
I installed python, pip, git and cc3200.
found a Windows Version of flashrom 1.4.
connected a CH341A programmer via SOP8, steady green light but initialization failed…
"…\flashrom-1.4>flashrom -p ch341a_spi -r backupCC3235-1.binflashrom 1.4.0 on Windows 10.0 (x86_64)flashrom is free software, Dreg comp, code source https://flashrom.org
Couldn’t open device 1a86:5512.Error: Programmer initialization failed."
Putting sudo before just activate windows if it’s ok and then nothing:
"…\flashrom-1.4>sudo flashrom -p ch341a_spi -r backupCC3235.bin
…\flashrom-1.4>"
My TeddyCloud runs in Docker on my UGreen NAS.
I’m new to this topic and I guess I failed with the basics.
Thanks in advance for answers.
Hello,
I’m writing to you because I was fortunately able to successfully integrate a CC3235 variant into my TeddyCloud as well, so I’m familiar with the process.
Flashing and preparing the Box V3 CC3235 for TeddyCloud is unfortunately a bit more difficult than with the other variants. If you go to the “Add Toniebox” menu in your TeddyCloud instance and then to “Versions,” you’ll see the different variants. There you’ll notice that there are “only” disadvantages if you have this particular variant.
In this video at timestamp 18:15, it is also clearly stated that it’s not easy:

Personally, I would advise you to reassemble the box, check whether everything is still working, and then either give it away or sell it. You’ll save yourself a lot of trouble and time. A small example of what you need to take care of with the CC3235: once you have successfully flashed the box, you must ensure that prod.de.tbs.toys and rtnl.bxcl.de are redirected to your TeddyCloud for your Toniebox. There are examples available and it is doable, but it does need to be set up.
Therefore, I suggest that, if possible, you get a box with the ESP32 instead.
I also recommend to do this process on a Linux system (Ubuntu or Debian) to avoid adding another hurdle. As I understand it, for example, not all features are supported in the Windows version of “flashrom.”
Let us know how you decide. If you choose to try it anyway, I recommend bringing a lot — really a lot — of patience. I would of course try to support you as best as I can. But I still stand by my advice: get yourself a different box.
Has anyone here successfully flashed a Toniebox under Windows?
Hello abendfels,
thanks for the advice.
Put the Box together and it works just fine.
Well well well, I will open our 2. Box and look what version it is.
I’ll look for another Box or a damaged one i could repair or is very unsightly
And if have the muse to continue (under Windows) I’ll make a Post about it.
