Accessing TeddyCloud via Android Hotspot + WireGuard VPN (Toniebox not connecting)

Hi everyone,

I’d like to use my Android phone’s hotspot while on the go to let my Toniebox connect to my TeddyCloud instance at home.

Here’s my setup:

  • My Android phone is connected to my Fritz!Box at home via WireGuard VPN.
  • From the phone itself, I can reach devices in my home network by IP address.
  • DNS resolution from the phone does not really work (hostnames don’t resolve), but if I ping a device name, I do get the correct IP address back.
  • I then connected the Toniebox to my Android hotspot.

What happens:

  • The Toniebox LED stays solid green, or
  • After a fresh check it blinks blue shortly and then pulses blue.

So it seems like the Toniebox cannot really connect to my TeddyCloud instance through this setup.

Has anyone an idea what I might be missing or doing wrong? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Vpn is not used for connected devices of your mobile. IIRC you need a rooted Android to get it working, but don’t ask me for details, I am not an Android user.

Thank you Henryk. I may found an app. Can you tell me the port which is needed for the tonibox to connect to TC?

Edit: found in the docker file: Port 443

Edit2: This port is not able to share because it is allready in use :frowning:

Port 443 is a must

i solved it now with the help of a raspberrypi.
Phone provied internet via usb tethering and raspberry connects via WireGuard.
