Main chip getting hot

After successfully flashing the first Toniebox and adding it to TeddyCloud, I proceeded with the second one. I followed the instructions as before, but this time the box did not show up on TeddyCloud. I refreshed it without getting any codeword (just the usual “ta-da”).

I put the box on the charging station and decided to deal with it the next day. Now, the box just glows green permanently when placed on the charging station and does not react to pressing the ears. Simply connecting the battery does not start the box at this point, and I was unable to get any connection via UART.

I noticed the chip getting hot. Now I wonder if this could have anything to do with flashing the chip or if it is “just” some leakage current on the board (considering the battery was already draining very fast before)?

Has anyone encountered this issue before? And is there a way to fix it?

It seems to be a hardware defect, you’ll have to identify.
It will most likely be the CC3200 main chip itself, which is broken. Not easy to fix.
