Power during UART connection

Hello all, please excuse the pretty basic question but I didn’t find it specifically in the guides and I don’t want to fry anything. And it’s been a while since I used Arduino.

Do I need to connect the UART and then power the box from the power supply or do I just use the UART?

Under 2.1.1 it says:

Toniebox is getting enought power (an UART 3.3V might not be an apropiate power source for it.)

Under the wiki for the debug port no connection to the UART VCC is made. I’ll plan to bridge SOP2 to the VCC of the UART instead of VCC from the box.

you need to power the box from the power supply (or battery)
