RFID-Tag broken oder privacy mode?

What options do I have to determine whether an RFID tag is actually broken or whether the privacy mode was activated before it was placed on the box?

Nothing happens when I put the tag on the box. Reading the tag with various apps on my cell phone doesn’t work either - nothing is displayed.
However, nothing is displayed in the apps even for tags that work on the box, so I assume that the tags still have a privacy mode?
Is there any way I can determine which is the case - broken or privacy mode?

The tag in question was not previously on the box, so the privacy mode must have been triggered in some other way. It also only affects one tag out of 100, so it’s probably more likely that it’s broken?

Box is an ESP32 with Teddycloud, tag is from RFID-Friend.

I have since spoken directly to RFIDfriend.
According to him, the tag is broken if the box does not react at all. Even if privacy mode has already been activated, the box should be able to deactivate it and the tag should be recognized accordingly.
