Hardware needed for bootloader

Hello, can somebody give me an hint, how i can connect my toniebox to my laptop, please?
The teddycloud runs fine on my nas. But i´m new at this hardware piont.

Have a look into the wiki.

It depends which type of box you have.

Without this information we can not help you.

I have the version with the CC3200 chip

You need at least an UART (like this one: https://amzn.eu/d/6NM1mPW ) and then something to connect the pcb tag with the uart.

You can buy the fitting tag connector ( here are listed some: Debug port | Toniebox Hacking )

Or

Use thin wires like shown here: 0.35mm resistor wires as Tag Connect alternative - TC2050

okay, if i have the UART from Amazon and the calbe vom Aliexpress: How do i connect this correct with my PC? Do you have an picture for me please?

And after the connection: Do i need a special software to copy the flash files?

Follow the wiki. The steps are listed there.

Sorry, but i cant find how to connect this two Pats

same here. I looked at the PIN layout but still I am unsure what is the right way to connect it.
My USB-to-UART (I have a different one) works with the drivers. I can connect the Tag-connect cable. But bringing both together in the right way I am failing.
I must admit this is all new to me, but I dont want to destroy the box with the first try.
Thank you for any help!

You have to connect with other wires. Follow the wiki which socket needs to be comnected to the uart.

You cannot connect the shown end to the uart directly

You’ll have to use jumper wires to connect the UART adapter to your tag connect.

Hello,

Is this the correct wiring from the tag connecter at the top of the picture to the USB Uart Adapter?

Thank you

Have a look here, doesn’t look right.

Unless the cable changes the pin out, but I assumed it’s the same as on the board.

It does change. In that case you are right

Do I still have to connect VCC and SOP2 on the TAG Connector?

I use the same hardware as andaryon on his picture at the beginning of the thread.

Just connect the 3.3V VCC from your programmer to SOP2 as shown in the link I provided.

I have now connected everything as described.

The jumper for the power connection on the UART board is at 3.3V.

Then I connected the adapter to my computer. The lamp on the Toniebox has constantly glowed slightly green.

Then I plugged in the power supply of the Toniebox.

Then the lamp has constantly glowed bright green.

However, I can’t get any connection despite the correct COM ports.

Timed out while waiting for ack

Wiring looks good to me.

Are you using --reset dtr in your commands?

I tried:

cc3200tool -p COM3 --reset dtr list_filesystem

and

cc3200tool -p COM3 --reset dtr --sop2 ~rts list_filesystem

I also attached the TAG-Connect to the board with a little pressure so that it definitely made contact.

Can you use a multimeter to verify that each contact on the PCB is definitely made to the correct port of your tag connect cable?

I have tested all contacts with the multimeter.

After that, it still didn’t work. Then instead of the connector I simply cut 0.35mm wire pieces of 3 resistors. With that it worked immediately also without soldering…

Thank you anyway for your help and the new Newbie Guide.
